Okay, let me dig into my deepest fear…
The old Shanghai Natural History Museum was no doubt the most terrifying slash coolest landmark in Shanghai. You could find fossils of gigantic dinosaurs and mammoth in the big hall, mummies from the Qing Dynasty in a small chamber and ALL KINDS of stuffed animals, including huge fishes that guaranteed thalassophobia, in this three-story museum. My grandpa took me there when I was very little and I was scared to cry when saw the mummies.
I visited this museum several times and paid one last visit there about 10 years ago just before it was closed permanently. I took a lot of pictures and almost everything remained the same as I remembered it.
Now all the displays were transferred to the new Nature Museum, a bright, modern, spacious architecture (which I also like). But sometimes, in the middle of the night, I can still hear the mummies whispering in my ears.
