When I was a child, the most impressive thing was going to my grandmother’s house and my cousin’s house every winter and summer vacation to play! In my childhood memories, most of the Shanghainese living in the urban area, in alley houses. The house is very small, but the neighbours have good relationships!
The location of my grandma’s house was relatively remote at the time (but now it is considered downtown, within the middle ring close to the inner ring), the house was built by themselves, it is very spacious, and there is a well, in summer time, we have the watermelons in the well for a bit, it would be very cold and refresh, a great way to relieve the heat!
My cousin’s house is also self-built, his father dug a small swimming pool, we used to play and swim in it during the summer vacations! I still remember clearly that once I got a mosquito bite on my leg and it got affected. My grandmother told me not to let it touch water, so while my cousins were playing in the pool, I could only ride a small bicycle around them and look at them enviously. But I don’t know what happened, I actually fell into it, and I played for a while to have my satisfaction!
During the winter vacation, the benefits of living at my grandmother’s house include having breakfast in bed and watching “”Journey to the West”” under the blankets. This is something that would never happen in my own home! In addition, my grandmother taught me a lot of principles for life. If it weren’t for historical reasons, I think she would have been a person of great wisdom. If she had the opportunity to study when she was a child, she would definitely be a great scholar!
Now, there are many high-rise buildings in Shanghai, it’s a very modern city, but some memories from when I was young are missing. Those memories are vague now, but beautiful! Full of happiness from childhood, but now which is difficult for our children to have! Shanghai, there has been huge developments, but what about the happiness index? Is it proportional? Worth thinking about! #Look at me laughing so much when I was a kid
