As a Shanghainese, I am proud of the vigorous developments of Shanghai over the years. This city has carried our laughters, joys and sorrows. Among these memories, what impressed me the most was going to Yu Garden(Yuyuan) with my parents.

Yu Garden has a long history as a landmark in Shanghai. Every year on the Lantern Festival, Yu Garden is always crowded with people and very lively. Because there is the annual Yuyuan Lantern Festival.

I believe every Shanghainese is very familiar with the Yuyuan Lantern Festival. During the Lantern Festival that year, my parents and I set foot inside the Yu Garden. We were fascinated by the beautiful scenes there. All kinds of lanterns dyed the night sky colourful. The streets of Yu Garden were full of people. There were many kinds of lanterns that year, such as zodiac lanterns, rabbit lanterns and so on. We were all amazed how vivid the lanterns looked. Some of the children were in groups, talking about the lanterns, some were playing among the lanterns, some carrying various lantern toys and played with their friends. The faces of the people were filled with happy smiles.

With the development over time, the Yuyuan Lantern Festival has also incorporated new technology and fashion elements. Our generation has experienced enormous changes brought by the reform and opening up to China and Shanghai. We are amazed by the rapid development of our country. Let us hope that our motherland will keep growing with each passing day with the efforts of each one of us.
